How to Watch IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV (Tizen Guide 2026)

Last updated: October 2026 · Glomax8K editorial desk · a step-by-step setup for Samsung Tizen TVs

The short answer

On a Samsung Smart TV you install an IPTV player from the Samsung Apps store — IBO Player Pro is the most reliable choice in 2026 — note the device ID and key it shows, then add your Glomax8K login on the player’s website. No stick or box is needed on any Samsung TV from 2018 onwards. Use a wired connection or 5 GHz Wi-Fi for 4K, and set the picture mode to Movie or Filmmaker so the TV does not over-process the stream.

Samsung is the best-selling TV brand in most of the countries we serve, from the USA and the UK to Canada and Australia. Its Tizen system does not allow apps to be sideloaded the way a Fire TV Stick does, so the setup is slightly different from the guides you may have read. It is not harder — it just happens partly on your phone or computer instead of on the TV.

Step 1: Check your TV can do it

Any Samsung Smart TV running Tizen works, which in practice means models from about 2016 onwards. The smoothest experience is on 2018 and newer sets, which have faster processors and current versions of the store.

Model year Code in the model number IPTV experience
2023–2026 C, D, E, F series Excellent; 4K HDR plays smoothly
2019–2022 R, T, A, B series Very good
2016–2018 K, M, N series Works; slower channel changes
Before 2016 Orsay system Use a Fire TV Stick instead

To find your model, open Settings → Support → About This TV. If your TV is older than 2016, a stick is cheaper than fighting the old system — our Firestick guide covers that route.

Step 2: Choose the player app

The app is only the player. It does not contain channels; your Glomax8K subscription supplies those. Here are the Tizen apps that matter:

App Login type Cost Our view
IBO Player Pro Xtream Codes or M3U Free trial, then a small one-off fee Best all-round: guide, VOD, catch-up
Smart IPTV (SIPTV) M3U Small one-off fee Simple, fast, live TV focus
SS IPTV M3U Free Fine for basic live TV
Set IPTV / Net IPTV M3U Small one-off fee Alternatives if the others are missing

The app fee goes to the app’s developer, not to us. Choose an app that takes Xtream Codes if you want the full TV guide, the on-demand library and catch-up in one place — the difference is explained in our M3U playlist guide.

Step 3: Install it

  1. Press the Home button on the Samsung remote.
  2. Go to Apps and select the magnifying glass.
  3. Type the app name, for example IBO Player Pro.
  4. Select Install, then Open.

If the app is not shown, your TV’s region setting may hide it. Most apps are available in the US, UK, Canadian and Australian stores; if one is missing, try another app from the table rather than changing the TV’s region.

Step 4: Activate it with your login

Tizen players are activated from a phone or computer, which saves typing a long server address with a TV remote:

  1. Open the app on the TV. It shows a Device ID (or MAC address) and a Device Key. Write both down.
  2. On your phone or computer, open the player’s official website and find the page for adding a playlist.
  3. Enter the Device ID and Key.
  4. Choose Xtream Codes and enter the server URL, username and password from your Glomax8K welcome message — or paste the M3U link if the app only accepts M3U.
  5. Save, then restart the app on the TV. The channels, guide and library load within a minute.

Send us your Device ID on WhatsApp if you prefer — we can do the activation step for you. Full device-by-device steps are in the installation guide.

Step 5: The settings that make the difference

On the TV

  • Picture mode: Movie or Filmmaker Mode. The default Standard or Dynamic modes sharpen and smooth the image, which makes compressed streams look worse, not better.
  • Auto Motion Plus: Off or Custom low. Motion smoothing adds artefacts to fast sport.
  • Network: use an Ethernet cable if the TV is close to the router. If not, connect to the 5 GHz network.
  • Turn off Instant On if the app misbehaves after the TV wakes from standby; a full restart clears most glitches.

In the player

  • Buffer: short (2–3 seconds) is better for live TV than long.
  • Favourites: build a list of the channels you watch. With 80,000+ channels, this is what makes the TV usable for the rest of the household.
  • Hide groups from countries you never watch.
  • Parental lock: set a PIN for adult groups if children use the TV.

Internet speed for a Samsung TV

Quality Minimum Comfortable
HD 10 Mbps 15 Mbps
Full HD 15 Mbps 25 Mbps
4K 25 Mbps 35 Mbps+

Samsung’s built-in Wi-Fi is good but not as strong as a dedicated streaming stick in the same position. If the TV sits far from the router, a cheap powerline adapter or a mesh point near the TV fixes most buffering. If you are wondering about 8K labels, read 8K IPTV explained first.

Common errors and fixes

Problem Likely cause Fix
“Playlist not found” Activation saved to the wrong Device ID Check the ID on the TV matches the one on the website
Channels load, no guide Signed in with M3U Re-add with Xtream Codes
Picture freezes, sound continues Weak Wi-Fi or the 2.4 GHz band Move to 5 GHz or Ethernet
App closes on its own TV memory full after weeks of standby Unplug the TV for 60 seconds
Trial expired message The app’s own trial, not your subscription Activate the app with its one-off fee

For anything beyond these, read what anti-freeze can and cannot do, or message support.

More than one TV in the house?

Each TV that watches at the same time needs its own connection on the plan. A living-room Samsung plus a bedroom TV means a two-connection plan. Our guide to how many connections you need walks through typical households.

Other services Samsung owners compare

If you are still choosing a provider, these IPTV services also explain their Smart TV setup clearly on their sites and are worth comparing with ours:

  • TrendyScreen IPTV — a US-focused service with step-by-step Smart TV and Fire TV setup.
  • Tivo8K — aimed at viewers with large 4K TVs who care most about picture quality.
  • KiloTV — a popular choice for live sport across the USA, the UK and Canada.
  • NorvikTV — the one to check if you live in Sweden, Norway, Denmark or Finland and want Nordic channels.
  • BugsTV — a French-language IPTV service, useful for French and Quebec households.

Whichever you compare, ask for a trial and run it on your Samsung TV itself, not on a phone. How to judge the result is in how to judge an IPTV provider.

Samsung Smart TV IPTV: FAQ
